League of FME Certifications

While watching my favorite steampunk series, League of Steam, I came to think of the last Olympics medal table and how some smaller countries don’t really stand a chance against the big ones:olympics_2012

Knowing that Sweden and Canada are FME dense countries I suspected that this could be reflected in the FME Certification listings at Safe.com. So I grabbed my favorite weapon of choice and cooked a workspace that reads directly by using http and calculates numbers of certifications. (My first approach, was to use the XML flattening technique but ran into troubles as the HTML-data did not validate. So I had to resort to old trusty techniques using the AttributeSplitter by finding HTML-tags. Have a peak here if Youre interested).

The tables below are listed by using the FME Data Inspector. Note that there is absolutely no guarantee that the data is correct! Also – the data shown is only the listed data. People may very well be certified but not listed! The information does not contain the Safe Software certified guys.

FME is powerful for most things – even putting this kind of trivia together!

  1. With this Sweden gets the gold.
Maybe we could also compare to sales.
If that was the case I am moving to the USofA…untapped market!

  2. See what happens if you distribute the numbers over the area of the different countries or the inhabitants. Looks like the Netherlands have a high density of both FME Certified professionals and Trainers.
